Llueves – Holiday Apartment Between Culture and Hiking Trails

Llueves lies on a mid-slope and offers views of Cangas de Onís and the Sella Valley. The village combines landscape, rural architecture, commemorative culture and various types of routes. Culture

The Ermita de Santo Toribio is a rectangular, paved chapel with a hipped roof and a single-arch bell gable. Hidden behind houses near the Ermita de Santo Toribio is the memorial inscription for Favila beside a limestone outcrop.

The Church of Santo Toribio is located 200 metres behind Llueves's small village square. The village also has hórreos and paneras as examples of typical Asturian rural architecture. Building design, memorial site, church architecture and traditional granaries offer different cultural perspectives without requiring you to focus on a single theme.

History

The wooden memorial cross for Favila was replaced in 1857 by a cross engraved into a rock with an inscription. This change was ordered by the Dukes of Montpensier, Don Antonio Mª Felipe de Orleans and Dña. Luisa Fernanda de Borbón.

Geographical Location

The local CO-1 road connects Cangas de Onís with Llueves. The fourth stage of the Benia–Cangas de Onís route passes through Llueves and subsequently reaches the CO-1 road, approximately two kilometres away.

The road connection and the stage route describe two different levels of orientation: one the connection between Llueves and Cangas de Onís, the other the course of a longer route. For travel planning, these perspectives can be considered separately.

A trail route leads from Villanueva to Llueves; Llueves is located at kilometre 5.9, before the ascent to Pico del Arbolín continues. The fourth stage of the Benia–Cangas de Onís route and the trail route differ in their course, while the circular hike retains its own route character.
