Discover Pedroveya: Ruta de Las Xanas, village culture and holiday apartments
Pedroveya is a starting or finishing point of the Camín Real de Puerto Ventana. The Ruta de Las Xanas begins at the El Molín de Las Xanas recreational area and then leads into the Desfiladero de Las Xanas.
Nature and trails
As a circular hiking trail, the Ruta de Las Xanas combines rugged landscapes, rural history, geology and forest. From Pedroveya, the circular route follows a paved path with views of the surrounding mountains to Dosango. The Desfiladero de Las Xanas is a designated natural monument and reaches depths of up to 100 metres in some places.
The first section of the Ruta de Las Xanas reaches the open pastures of Pedroveya and ends beside the Iglesia de San Antonio de Padua, with views of the route already covered. The Senda de Valdolayés runs through meadows, along stone walls and through areas where goats are often seen.
The GR 207, also known as the Camín Real del Puerto de Ventana or Camín Real de Las Reliquias, leads via Arrojo and Bermiego to Pedroveya. The Ruta de Las Xanas was carved into the rock in the mid-20th century and was intended to connect Pedroveya and Dosango with the Trubia Valley. For your own day planning, you can consider the different routes separately.
The network of trails thus brings together different landscapes and historic routes. The circular route connects the gorge with the path to Dosango, while the Senda de Valdolayés incorporates meadows, stone walls and the goats often found there. The GR 207 complements these trails with the named connections via Arrojo and Bermiego. The trails can therefore be distinguished according to landscape, connection with local places and historic route alignment.
