Riofabar – Redes Nature Park, La Pesanca and Pico Vízcares

The route from La Pesanca to the Foz de Moñacos leads through the municipality of Caso into Redes Nature Park. Riofabar thus combines a specific starting point in Piloña with a path that leads into a named nature park.

Between the river landscape, wooded areas and mountain destinations, a clearly distinct picture of the surroundings emerges. The places mentioned do not represent the same type of excursion: La Pesanca refers to a riverside recreational area, the Arboreto de Miera to a botanically interesting woodland, and Pico Vízcares to a specific summit destination.

Nature

The La Pesanca riverside recreational area is located near Ríofabar in Piloña. It lies on a meadow beside the Infierno River between the Aves and Gibladiella mountain ranges. The meadow, river and two mountain ranges form the essential spatial references of this place.

The Arboreto de Miera is located near the La Pesanca recreational area and is a botanically interesting area. It is a wooded area consisting predominantly of native oaks and chestnuts. Its proximity to La Pesanca brings together two different nature themes without equating them: here, the riverside setting is contrasted with a wooded collection consisting mainly of native tree species.

Those who look more closely at the landscape will therefore find several scales side by side. Redes Nature Park appears in connection with the route to the Foz de Moñacos, while La Pesanca and the Arboreto de Miera are specific named places in the surroundings of Ríofabar and Piloña.

Hiking

The PR-AS 289 route to Pico Vízcares begins and ends at the La Pesanca recreational area. It is 13.06 kilometres long and leads to Pico Vízcares, Piloña’s highest summit at 1,419 metres.

To put this hike into perspective, the starting and ending point, the route length and the summit destination can be considered separately. The 13.06 kilometres describe the extent of the route; the start and finish at La Pesanca mark its spatial framework, while Pico Vízcares identifies the destination and the elevation specifies the summit reference.

The route is therefore clearly distinct from the natural sites described without a route distance. La Pesanca is both a riverside recreational area and the starting and ending point of the PR-AS 289; Pico Vízcares complements this starting point with a specific destination at an elevation of 1,419 metres.

Getting around

There is a bus stop called “Rifabar - Capilla” in Ríofabar. The access road to the La Pesanca recreational area via the PI-4 passes through Ríofabar.

This places two different details about the location side by side: the bus stop is named “Rifabar - Capilla”, while the PI-4 leads to the recreational area and runs through Ríofabar. Both references remain focused on the location and access to La Pesanca.

For further travel planning, you can distinguish the nature and route destinations according to their specific functions: Redes Nature Park forms part of the route from La Pesanca to the Foz de Moñacos, the Arboreto de Miera represents a wooded area with predominantly native oaks and chestnuts, and the PR-AS 289 connects La Pesanca with Pico Vízcares.

Those considering Riofabar as a travel destination can include travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions as separate details when choosing a holiday apartment. This selection sits alongside the location references and the nature and route destinations, complementing them with the personal planning of the stay.
