Gozón: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Cabo Peñas is the northernmost point of the Principality of Asturias. The Cabo Peñas comarca comprises Gozón and Carreño and lies between Gijón and Avilés.

Nature
Playa de Moniello is located in the Cabo Peñas Protected Landscape Area. At Peña la Gaviera near Cabo Peñas, vertical cliffs rise approximately 100 metres high. Punta de la Vaca is a viewpoint for observing migrating seabirds.
Playa de Xagó is surrounded by an extensive dune ecosystem of high ecological and botanical value. Due to its strong waves, it is used by surfers and fishermen. Playa de Verdicio also has an extensive dune area of high ecological value for its flora, including vulnerable species. Playa de Verdicio, also known as Tenrero, has strong waves and is visited by surfers and fishermen all year round.
Playa de Bañugues is a rural beach with golden sand. Playa de Luanco is protected by the Gayo breakwater and has calm waves. It is easy to reach on foot and by car, has parking facilities and offers adapted access.
Trails and viewpoints
The urban route through Luanco is an easy trail running from the viewpoint of Playa de Samarincha to the Museo Marítimo de Asturias. The Senda Costera de Luanco a Candás begins at Playa de la Ribera in Luanco.
The Senda Costera de Cabo Peñas a San Juan de Nieva leads from Cabo Peñas towards Faro de San Juan. The glazed building Semáforo de Peñas, located just a few metres from Faro de Peñas, serves as a landmark; it houses the Centro de Interpretación del Paisaje Protegido del Cabo Peñas. Culture and history
In Luanco, the Historic Ensemble developed around its fishing port and coastline. It preserves narrow streets, traditional fishermen’s houses and distinctive buildings that reflect the town’s historical development. Iglesia Santa María de Luanco was built between 1728 and 1735 to a design by Pedro Morloti Samoneti; seven Baroque altarpieces have been preserved inside.
Torre de la Canal was built in 1705 and now houses Luanco’s clock.
Events
At the Festival del Bonito, various dishes made with bonito are sampled in Luanco’s restaurants at the beginning of July, including bonito roll and bonito salad. Carnaval de Verano features costume competitions, street entertainment, music and performances.
