The section of the Desfiladero de los Arrudos begins in Caliao in Caso and runs for approximately 6 kilometres to La Fontona. The ascent to Tiatordos passes through forests and mountain pastures and over ridges to the 1,951-metre-high summit; the return route runs through the Foz del Palombar.
The route to Brañagallones reaches, at an altitude of 1,215 metres, a mountain pasture formed during the Ice Age and surrounded by beech forests and blueberry bushes. The circular Valle del Río Medio route from Orllé in Caso is just over 7 kilometres long, has around 600 metres of elevation gain and takes approximately three hours.
Culture and History
The Museo de la Madera in Veneros is housed in an Asturian Baroque palace dating from the 17th century and displays wooden footwear, tools and other wooden objects. A visit to the Museo de la Madera is complemented by a tour of Veneros, where traditional wooden buildings and various wooden household items can be seen.
The Museo de la Apicultura de Caso presents the world and development of beekeeping and enables visitors to observe how a live beehive functions. Together, the two historic Tercias of Caso encompass six villages and preserve customs and memories of former rural life.
