Bueres – History, Mountain Landscape and Holiday Apartments

Bueres is a centuries-old settlement on the Camín Real del Sellón. The historic route, sacred architecture, mountain landscape and regional cheese stand alongside one another as distinct thematic references. Culture and History

The Capilla de Santiago in Bueres dates from the 17th and 18th centuries and is designed in the style of vernacular Baroque. Its architectural form can be identified through three clear elements: the nave is rectangular, the western portico is enclosed and the southern portico is open. The period, style and floor plan thus complement one another to provide a precise description of the building.

Together with nearby Govezanes, Bueres formed an important historical centre of Arrería. The decisive factor in this connection was the route of the Camín Real towards Collada de Arnicio, which passed through here. The historical reference therefore lies not only in the settlement itself, but also in its connection with the regional route.

The Tercia de Bueres comprises Bueres, Gobezanes and Nieves. This grouping highlights traditional Casín architecture and native livestock. In addition to the individual building, the settlement structure and the regionally characteristic features of the surrounding area are also central. The Tercia therefore broadens the perspective from the chapel to several places and shared characteristics.

Landscape and Protected Area

Bueres is considered one of the villages and hamlets in the municipality of Caso. The entire municipality of Caso forms part of Redes Nature Park, meaning that the connection with the village extends to a larger protected landscape. Route

The PR-AS-125 hiking trail begins in Nieves, which can be reached from Bueres by road. From there, the trail leads via Colláu Llagu Ovia and further stops to Orlé. The starting point, intermediate stop and destination thus form a clearly named sequence, while Bueres remains the reference point for the described accessibility.
