Lanuza by the Reservoir – Culture, Trails and Peaks

Lanuza is the venue for the International Festival of Cultures “Pirineos Sur”. The main venue of the “Pirineos Sur” festival is a floating stage on the Embalse de Lanuza. The International Festival of Cultures “Pirineos Sur” takes place in the second half of July.

Lanuza lies at an altitude of 1,285 metres on the shore of the reservoir named after the village. The lake is associated both with the festival stage and with the lakeside trail.

Culture

Lanuza was first documented in the 13th century. The houses in Lanuza were renovated to resemble the former buildings. The Iglesia de El Salvador dates from the 19th century.

Nature

The Camino Natural del embalse de Lanuza offers views of Lanuza from the opposite shore of the reservoir. It can follow the reservoir shore to Lanuza, forming a circular route of almost seven kilometres. The views, the lakeside route and the length of the circuit provide different points of reference when planning a day.

Griffon vultures (Gyps fulvus) fly above the Camino Natural del embalse de Lanuza.
