Nature

The Parque Olivar del Zaudín is a more than 45-hectare, park-like olive ecosystem in Tomares. It is a breeding and resting area during bird migration for numerous birds; among others, little owls, lesser kestrels and peregrine falcons live there. The Sendero Saludable runs through the green Parque Olivar del Zaudín. The trail is 2.6 kilometres long, has 28 metres of cumulative positive elevation gain and is of medium difficulty. It comprises a 53 m² air-conditioned room for environmental education, exhibitions and lectures.

Culture

The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Belén was built in 1708. Inside, three naves separated by round arches rest on white marble columns. The Hacienda Santa Ana is another notable historic building. It was built at the behest of the Conde-Duque de Olivares in the typical style of an 18th-century hacienda and is considered in Tomares to be the building of greatest architectural and heritage interest.

The Habitación del Agua is located in the garden of the Hacienda Santa Ana: a large rectangular, terraced and partially covered pond with several water spouts. The garden also includes a platform for public outdoor events. The Hacienda Montefuerte was built in the 17th century as a typical olive farm and now houses the municipal library “José Mª Delgado Buiza”. The Torre Montefuerte lookout tower is one of the most distinctive architectural elements of Tomares.

A special historical collection is the Tesoro de Tomares. It consists of 19 Roman amphorae containing 50,000 bronze coins from the 3rd and 4th centuries AD.

Town life

The historic centre of Tomares is a pedestrian zone. The “Tomares Gourmet” Ruta de la Tapa took place in 2025 as its 13th edition from 20 to 30 November. Over eleven days, visitors could sample 31 tapas at 24 local food-service establishments. The performing arts are also part of the events calendar. The “Ciudad de Tomares” Flamenco Festival reached its 51st edition in 2026. In 2026, the Pavías evenings of the Hermandad Sacramental began on Fridays and Saturdays in the Jardines del Conde.
