Las Gabias is home to the Torreón de Las Gabias, a Muslim alquería tower from the Nasrid period, dating from the 13th to the 15th century.

Culture

The interior of the Torreón de Las Gabias is accessible and features well-preserved examples of stucco work and tile decoration. The tower can be visited free of charge on weekdays.

The Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Las Nieves dates from the late 16th century and stands at the end of Calle Ermita in the old town of Las Gabias. Its stained-glass window depicts the Virgen de las Nieves.

The Iglesia Parroquial de la Encarnación is distinguished by its architectural beauty. The Villa romana de Gabia includes a 30.50 m-long, semi-underground gallery with a barrel vault. This gallery is naturally lit by 10 windows or skylights and decorated with marble.

The Fiestas Patronales of Las Gabias are celebrated in honour of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves Coronada; they include a solemn procession through the town’s main streets and the traditional Fuente del Vino.

A cultural tour does not have to be understood as a single, uniform theme. You can organise your impressions according to outdoor and indoor spaces, religious sites, festivals or historic complexes, and adjust the emphasis to your own interests.

You can consider the town’s history according to its chronology and architectural forms, classify religious motifs and festival traditions separately, or place landscape, mobility and sport side by side as independent planning topics. No fixed order is required; you decide which focus to prioritise first.

Landscape

Las Gabias lies on a plain along the Río Dílar; significant irrigated areas are located on both banks. At the same time, the town lies on the boundary between the Vega and the Secano.

When choosing a location, you can treat landscape and transport as two different perspectives: one focuses on the area, while the other focuses on bus connections. Which information matters first depends on your own planning.

Bus route 156 connects Granada, Armilla, Churriana de la Vega and Las Gabias. Bus route 158D directly connects Granada, Churriana de la Vega and Gabia Grande.

Activities

Las Gabias is home to the 18-hole Campo de Golf Los Cosarios. Also located in Las Gabias is the Campo de Tiro Olímpico Juan Carlos I Olympic shooting facility, with modern facilities.

When planning, you can consider golf and shooting sports as separate activity focuses. The different topics can be weighted according to personal interest, without requiring them to form a fixed programme.

When comparing a holiday apartment in Las Gabias, you can check the travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions side by side on the respective offer pages. These three details provide an objective basis for comparison according to your own travel conditions and priorities.
