Diezma: Sierra Nevada Panoramas, Fiesta and Mountain Landscape
Diezma is considered a viewpoint over the Sierra Nevada; the town is suitable for taking panoramic photographs. For visitors, the landscape and culture offer two different perspectives, which can be weighted separately when planning.
Landscape
Diezma is one of the thirteen municipalities whose municipal areas extend across the protected Sierra de Arana area in the province of Granada. The Cerro de las Mentiras and Peña de la Cruz mountains are located in the area around Diezma. The Sierra de Huétor is characterised by medium-altitude mountain ranges, narrow gorges, streams, rock faces and limestone karst formations.
Distant views, individual mountains and karst formations create different focal points. When planning a trip, these landscape aspects can be considered separately and arranged according to the desired focus.
Culture and Tradition
The town is home to the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Anunciación church, built in 1545. Diezma is also a named stop on the Ruta de Ibn al-Jatib between Murcia and Granada. The Fiesta de San Blas has its own seasonal focus: it generally takes place on the weekend closest to 3 February.
The traditions that shape the fiesta include the roscos made in honour of Saint Blaise. After the roscos are distributed, the festival includes a procession or pilgrimage to Cerro de San Blas. The general weekend reference is decisive for scheduling.

The A-92 motorway passes through the area around Diezma and provides direct access from Granada, Almería and Seville. The PR-A 387 hiking trail, named DIEZMA-SILLAR BAJA, is listed in the Granada Geopark hiking trail plan for Diezma.
