Zreče combines art in the town, evidence of its blacksmithing tradition, a thermal spa located directly beside a spruce forest, and paths through woodland, countryside and nature. Between historical traces and well-described educational and hiking trails, a multifaceted picture of this Slovenian town emerges.

Culture

The Forma Viva Zreče began in Zreče between 1973 and 1975. Further sculpture symposia followed, resulting in the creation of new sculptures up to 1989. Forma Viva is also connected with the blacksmithing tradition and the blacksmithing activities that developed there. The sculptures therefore do not stand apart from the town’s history, but are connected with a craft that shaped Zreče.

The parish church of St. Egidia in Zreče has a Romanesque basic structure. Gothic and Late Gothic elements, as well as Baroque altars, were added later. Another aspect of the local history is presented by the narrow-gauge railway museum: It is located in the only surviving railway station in Zreče and comprises three collections. These are dedicated to the railway line, the Zreški kovači ensemble, and more recent events connected with preserving the memory of this line. The museum can be visited by prior arrangement with LTO Rogla–Zreče, GIZ TIC Zreče, in Zreče.

Nature

The Zreče Thermal Spa is located in the town of Zreče, directly beside a spruce forest. It obtains thermal water, healing peat and volcanic fango mud from the Pohorje mountains. This brings the thermal world and the forest-dominated landscape together in one place.

The easy Zreče Water Educational Trail offers a flexible route: You can join or leave it at any station. The stations include Lake Zreče and the Koprivnica stream. The route thus combines bodies of water, a stream and information along a trail whose individual stations are not tied to a fixed starting or finishing point.

Hiking and Cycling

The Zreče–Gorenje–Zlakova hiking trail starts in Zreče and leads through wooded sections and areas with scenic views. Another route is the Srčkova Educational Trail: The circular route is 10.1 km long, and you can join or leave it at any point. In Zreče, the educational trail passes 13 natural and cultural attractions.

For cycling, the Pohorje 5A cycle path runs from the outskirts of Zreče to Rogla. Its start and finish are therefore at two clearly named points, while the hiking trails have different layouts: one leads through wooded sections and areas with scenic views, while the other is designed as a 10.1 km circular route.

These points may vary for individual offers. The term accommodation encompasses different types of offers; what matters, therefore, are the specific features and conditions stated for the respective offer.
