Culture and History

Žiče Charterhouse offers guided tours featuring a panoramic trail, a panoramic viewing niche and a lapidarium, followed by an individual visit with an audio guide. St. George's Parish Church is a late Gothic church with a Baroque Rosary Chapel containing preserved frescoes by Jožef A. Lerchinger dating from 1749. Its bell tower dates from the late 13th century and is considered one of the oldest and largest in the Slovenian part of Styria.

The ruins of the Old Castle of Konjice are among the oldest castles in Slovenia and among the country's most significant castle ruins. The Old Castle can be reached by bicycle via a gravel road and on foot via the Zmajček Forest Educational Trail. Stari trg has preserved its original layout as a town square since it was first mentioned in written records.

The Mestna galerija Slovenske Konjice is divided into five exhibition rooms. It displays works connected with the town's history through artists' colonies, local artists, urban motifs and personalities. The Riemer City Gallery displays more than seventy paintings by local and international artists.

Trebnik Manor was first mentioned in historical sources in 1308 and was described in 1362 as a manor below Konjice Castle. The renovated park at the manor includes a fitness trail, a sports park, a pond with an island and a children's playground. Trebnik Manor is open to the general public.

Nature and Landscape

Within the municipality of Slovenske Konjice, five areas have been included in the European Natura 2000 network. The Petelinjek wetland extends over 37 hectares near the village of Ličnica, encompasses the four ponds Štatenberšek, Štepihovec, Polšak and Stari gaj, and is protected under the Natura 2000 network.

Hiking trails run under and through the forests of Konjiška gora; the area also has hunting lodges, parks and forest educational trails. A diverse range of plant and animal species has been documented in remote villages. Karst features such as gullies, sinkholes and springs occur in the Konjiška gora area.

Cycling, Wine and Golf

The cycling route from Slovenske Konjice to Žiče Charterhouse is 25 kilometres long as a round trip, takes approximately two hours and has a moderate difficulty level. Zlati Grič Wine Cellar offers wine and sparkling wine tastings as well as guided tours of the wine cellar.

The Zlati Grič golf course covers 24 hectares and has nine holes. It is located among the vineyards of Škalce and includes a stream, ponds, forests and shrubs. The Zlati Grič Golf Club in Dobrava offers beginners golf courses and lessons.
