Holiday apartment in Razdrto: Hiking on Nanos

Two distinctive trails begin in Razdrto: the hiking trail up Nanos starts at a large gravel car park immediately before the motorway overpass, while the Erasmus’ Cycling Trail begins at the foot of Nanos. Hiking

The Nanos hiking trail from Razdrto splits at a fork into an easier, gentler path and a steep route. On the steep Nanos route, steps set into the rock face and metal cables make the ascent easier. This route includes views of the Vipava Valley, the Karst Plateau, Vremščica and Snežnik. The easier path reaches the Nanos Plateau above the Church of Saint Jerome after about one and a half hours.

The Church of Saint Jerome is located on the southern slopes of Nanos above Rebernice and below Grmada. It was built in 1360. Thus, Nanos combines different types of trails with a single structure whose year of construction and exact location on the slopes have been clearly handed down.

Cycling

The Erasmus’ Cycling Trail follows a quiet asphalt road through Veliko Ubeljsko and Malo Ubeljsko. Through Strane, the same trail passes a yew tree that, according to local tradition, is the thickest and oldest yew tree in Slovenia. The Erasmus’ Cycling Trail also reaches Predjama Castle. The castle is built directly into a high rock face.

Nature

Several mountains lie around Razdrto: Ter, Čebulovica, Vremščica and Debeli Hrib. Each of these four names refers to a mountain in the area surrounding the village. The wider regional surroundings of Razdrto also include three viewpoints: Vedetta di S. Lorenzo, Vedetta di Moccò and Vedetta Alice.

Culture and Culinary Delights

At Hudičevec, bread has been baked in a brick oven for more than 70 years according to Grandmother Pavla’s recipe.
