Discover Runarsko – Holiday Apartment, Church and Cultural Heritage
Runarsko combines historical traces, waterscapes and routes to create a diverse local character. Details of cultural history are just as central as specific routes and events.
Culture and History
The Church of the Nativity of Mary in Runarsko was built after 1700. Its wooden main altar was made in 1870 by Anton Kušlan from Novo mesto. Its construction history also includes a significant turning point: in 1834, the church burned down after being struck by lightning before it was restored in 1870. As a structure, it is part of the built cultural heritage.
Another historical connection leads to the ancient road route between Velike Lašče and Runarsko. The Roman defensive wall along this route was part of the Roman defensive complex Claustra Alpium Iuliarum. A section of the wall approximately 300 metres long is visible on the road between Runarsko and Novi Pot; an information board stands beside it.
The Tabor Archaeological Site in Runarsko is part of the archaeological cultural heritage. A watchtower stood on Stari grad at Taboršče. Together with the church and the Roman defensive wall, these historical connections to the area span from antiquity to more recent architectural history.
Waterscape
The Runarščica rises below Paslovec and flows into the Blatni potok near Ograde. The headwaters of the Bloščica rise between Zakraj and Runarsko on an impermeable dolomite bedrock.
Routes and Events
Several activities lead through the landscape and the surrounding area. The 37-kilometre circular route of the Magdalena-Gornik pilgrimage route can be covered by car, bicycle or on foot. A run starts at Lake Bloke and follows level paths through the Bloščica stream’s fen towards Runarsko and back.
Horse riding is also associated with a specific annual event: the Konjeniško društvo Divji konji equestrian club at Runarsko 8 organises an annual horse ride through Bloke and the surrounding area.
When considering holiday apartment offers in Runarsko, it is worth looking at the details of each listing. Included services, individual price components and booking and cancellation deadlines may also be regulated differently from one offer to another. Opening or comparing the displayed offers allows you to compare these fields directly. For occupancy, the number stated in the offer is decisive; for prices, the components listed there apply. The place name alone does not replace checking the individual offer. What matters are the specific features listed, not a general expectation of the stay. In addition, the accommodation type, the maximum stated occupancy and the exact location can be checked in the respective offer, provided these fields are included there. It is likewise worth comparing the payment terms and deadlines when reviewing multiple listings. The specific fields published for each individual offer always remain decisive.
