Culture

Trails

The Loška dolina Cultural Heritage Trail can be followed independently along its marked route or with a local tourist guide. It has a 21-kilometre route and an 11-kilometre route. The trail passes through Kozarišče and across fields to a viewpoint above Podgora. Its route therefore connects the settlement itself with open landscapes and a named viewpoint, without being limited to a single distance.

Marking is also an essential part of the route guidance: the Cultural Heritage Trail is laid out as a marked route, and a marked path also leads to the summit of Snežnik. The two route distances of 21 and 11 kilometres belong to the Loška dolina Cultural Heritage Trail; the summit path is to be distinguished from it as a separate marked path.

Nature

The Mali Obrh rises in Kozarišče at the edge of the Snežnik forests. Kozarišče lies at the entrance to an extensive forest area; brown bears, wolves, and lynxes live in this region.

The summit of Snežnik, listed as 1,796 m high, can be reached via a marked path. The network of paths in the area therefore includes both the Cultural Heritage Trail with its two route lengths and the viewpoint above Podgora, as well as a separately marked path to a named summit.

Traditions

The regional tradition of edible dormouse hunting is also reflected in an outdoor event. Polharska noč is a traditional ethnological outdoor event that introduces visitors to the old tradition of edible dormouse hunting. Polharska noč is preceded by the annual Tek po polhovih stopinjah run. The museum, event, and run thus represent different forms in which this local ethnological heritage appears in public.
