Holiday apartment in Osuské: Natural Monument and Local History

The Rieka Myjava Natural Monument covers the cadastral area of Osuské and is recorded as covering 34.9384 hectares. It consists of three separate sections that together encompass 27 kilometres of watercourse. The protected area preserves an intact, meandering riverbed with typical trees and shrubs along its banks.

Nature

The Osuská Linden, a protected natural formation, is also located in the municipality of Osuské. The signposted Kopaničiarska cyklomagistrála cycle route No. 022, marked in red, runs in the vicinity of Osuské. The recreational route connects Záhorie and Považie via the Myjava Kopaničar settlements. A 30-metre-wide protection zone applies to a natural monument, measured from its boundary.

The Rieka Myjava area and the Osuská Linden represent two different protected elements: the Rieka Myjava area is characterised by its preserved riverbed and riverside vegetation, while the Osuská Linden is named as an individual protected natural formation in the municipality. The cycle route has its own distinct spatial classification through its red markings, number 022 and connection via the Myjava Kopaničar settlements.

Culture and Townscape

The cultural townscape of Osuské includes several individually identified landmarks. The Trinity Monument in Osuské dates from the 19th century. Statues of saints line Emanuela Lehockého Street in Osuské. The Calvary group, a stonework created in the second half of the 18th century, stands in front of the church. The monument to the victims of the First World War stands near the municipal office on Emanuela Lehockého Street in Osuské.

The sacred artworks and the monument on Emanuela Lehockého Street represent different forms of the townscape: the statues of saints line the street, the Calvary group is located in front of the church, and the memorial monument stands near the municipal office. Each of these locations remains associated with its named site and its respective chronological classification.

History

The Jewish cemetery of Osuské is also precisely located: it lies on the right bank of the Myjava River. Today, fewer than ten gravestones remain there, concentrated almost exclusively in a row along the western wall. The cemetery had an approximately square layout, with sides measuring about 15 metres. Remains of a stone enclosure survive along the entire perimeter as a continuous stone embankment.

The ecclesiastical building history in Osuské spans several centuries. A chapel was built in 1666 at the instigation of Ján and Juraj Ďurišoví. The church in Osuské was built between 1619 and 1631 and remodelled in the Baroque style in 1751. It has a masonry organ gallery dating from 1844. The chapel, church and organ gallery thus each represent a distinct historical moment and a separate stage of architectural development.
