Discover Jablonica: Culture, Nature and Holiday Apartments

Jablonica was established at the foot of the Malé Karpaty along the old Czech road Via Bohemica. Cultural, natural and route-related topics can be considered separately and compared with one another when planning your trip.

Culture and History

The Kostol sv. Štefana kráľa in Jablonica was built beginning on 19 June 1729; construction took six years. The church is a three-nave Baroque building with an almost square floor plan and a rounded presbytery. Its main altar features late Baroque ornamentation and larger-than-life sculptures of Saint Stephen, Saint Ladislaus and the holy Apostles Peter and Paul.

The present-day manor house of Jablonica was built in the Baroque style after 1663. The two-storey building has three wings and two square corner towers on the main façade.

The Calvary of Jablonica is attributed to J. J. Dorfmeister. It stands on a small artificially raised central area enclosed by a stone balustrade. The Baroque Calvary group in Jablonica was created from sandstone between 1756 and 1758.

In the cemetery chapel of Jablonica, a small altar with an image of the Seven Sorrows of Mary is located behind a grille. The Way of the Cross in the cemetery comprises 12 stations. At the end of the main path, a stone Holy Sepulchre with a statue of the dead Christ stands on a raised mound. Three wooden crosses representing Golgotha stand on the cemetery hill. The chapel at the end of the cemetery is stylistically consistent with small neo-Gothic brick-built religious structures from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Nature

The Zrubárka spring is located in a valley between a water reservoir and a quarry and is protected as a natural monument. The protected Zrubárka area includes a complex of alder swamp forest and wet meadows covering an area of 3 ha. In the mountains, the spring is one of the last to have been preserved in its natural state.

Hiking and Cycling

Several marked hiking trails lead from Jablonica into the CHKO Malé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area and its surroundings. A yellow cycling route connects the blue cycling highway from Jablonica, which runs north of the Malé Karpaty through Záhorie, with the cycling network on the Trnava side of the Carpathians near the Suchánka forester’s lodge.

Events

Various events are held annually at Jablonica Manor House and its outbuildings, including wine or beer festivals at which visitors can get to know the complex.
