Holiday apartment in Lakšárska Nová Ves – nature, trails and culture

Lakšárska Nová Ves displays several clearly identifiable facets: protected wetlands, marked trails and cycling routes, a lake, and historic religious buildings. The different names, forms of protection and dates in particular make the local landscape concrete.

Here, different landscape and cultural themes meet: protected areas and wet meadows stand alongside marked hiking and cycling routes, as well as religious buildings with their own history.

Nature

Almost the entire cadastral area of Lakšárska Nová Ves lies within the Záhorie Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Záhorie). The cadastral area also contains the Červený rybník National Nature Reserve (NPR Červený rybník). It protects a swamp alder forest (Carici elongatae-Alnetum) and remnants of a fen meadow with plant communities of the Caricion fuscae alliance.

The Zelienka Nature Reserve (PR Zelienka) is also located within the cadastral area. It is one of the last remaining inter-dune wetland areas. Other landscape features of Lakšárska Nová Ves include a 35,953 m² lake with a distinctive natural setting.

The wetlands are subject to the highest, fifth level of protection; leaving the trails is prohibited there.

The two reserves differ in their described characteristics: Červený rybník preserves forest and meadow remnants, while Zelienka represents a preserved inter-dune wetland area. The fifth level of protection adds a clear rule for behaviour in the wetlands to these landscape details.

Trails and routes

The long-distance hiking trail from Závod to Senica passes through Lakšárska Nová Ves. A blue-marked hiking trail follows a forest road from Lakšárska Nová Ves to the Tomky recreation area. The routes pass through different landscape areas and each has its own marking or designation.

The educational trail from Lakšárska Nová Ves to the Tomky recreation area begins in Lakšárska Nová Ves, in the Záhorie Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Záhorie). It passes by the Červený rybník National Nature Reserve (NPR Červený rybník) and gradually continues to the Tomky recreation area. Along the educational trail, information boards explain selected plant, mushroom and animal species.

A map of the Záhorie Sever cycling route is installed at the main intersection in the centre of Lakšárska Nová Ves. The so-called Kopaničiarska cycling route also passes through Lakšárska Nová Ves.

The routes also have different functions and designations: the long-distance hiking trail passes through the village, the blue trail connects it with Tomky, and the cycling maps mark the village on the Záhorie Sever and Kopaničiarska cycling route networks. The educational trail combines the route with explanatory information boards.

Culture and history

The Baroque Church of Saint Lawrence was built in 1729–1730. It has been a protected cultural monument since 1968. A defensive wall with loopholes dating from the late 17th century surrounds the church. The defensive wall enclosed the first church on the site of the present religious building.

The centre of Lakšárska Nová Ves is also home to a Baroque chapel dedicated to Saint Simon and Saint Jude, built in 1754.
