Lednica combines the protected landscape of the White Carpathians with a medieval castle, marked trails and vibrant local traditions. Between nature reserves, rocky cliffs and cultural customs, the town presents a diverse picture that encompasses active pursuits as well as historical and folkloric themes.

Nature

The municipality of Lednica lies within the Biele Karpaty Protected Landscape Area. The PR Lednické bradlo nature reserve is also located within the municipality. It covers 14.28 hectares, lies in Lednica and is protected at the IV level. Its distinctive features include xerothermic flora, including the early-flowering carnation (Dianthus praecox) and nine orchid species.

The PP Lednické skalky natural monument is also located in Lednica. It covers an area of 2.71 hectares and has protection status at the IV level. This natural monument includes extensively used pastures on a small rocky cliff above Lednica. The Protected Landscape Area, nature reserve and natural monument therefore each represent different protected elements of the townscape.

Hiking and Winter

The hiking trail network in Lednica includes trails marked in blue, green and yellow. One longer route is the Turistický chodník okolo Lednice, which takes approximately four hours. The surrounding area can also be explored by bicycle on a route to Mount Žrnová; it is approximately 12 kilometres long. Thanks to a local ski lift, Lednica also offers opportunities for winter tourism.

Culture and History

Local culture includes the Lednický kroj, a local traditional costume that is decorated with embroidery and lace. The Tradičné lednické dožinkové slávnosti are Lednica's largest folklore celebration and take place annually. The Ledničanka folklore group also preserves the local custom in Lednica of singing wedding songs at the bride's parents' home before a wedding.

A historical focal point is Lednica Castle. Its courtyard can be reached through a 10-metre-long tunnel carved into hard limestone. Lednica Castle was built in the mid-13th century and its main task was to monitor Hungary's northwestern border. The castle can be reached on foot in about 10 minutes from the car park by the municipal office.
