Holiday apartment in Pribeta – Culture, Nature and Circular Trail

Pribeta combines sacred buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries with natural areas, a circular trail accessible year-round and vineyards that have been mentioned in the southern hills since 1720. Culture

The Ethnographic Collection conveys how the inhabitants of Pribeta lived in the past, experienced wars and celebrated holidays. It is housed in a part of the former Catholic primary school building that was renovated in 2008. Visitors can be guided through the Ethnographic Collection by its founders, Jakab Katalin and Szabó Edit. Thus, the collection focuses both on the former way of life and on the personal interpretation provided by its founders.

One of the notable sacred buildings is the Holy Trinity Parish Church in Pribeta. It was rebuilt at its present location in 1733 and is a late Baroque church. The main altarpiece dates from around 1770. The Reformed Church in Pribeta represents a different historical style: it was built in 1784–1786 as a towerless Tolerance Church and received its tower in 1841. Inside are three wooden Protestant galleries and a Classicist pulpit with a sounding board.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Pribeta was built in 1762 on the site of a hermitage. A modern Calvary group surrounds the chapel. It is in good condition and continues to serve its religious purpose.

Nature

Pribetský háj, a protected area, lies on the southwestern edge of Pribeta. The official designation of Pribetský háj protects 69 genetically valuable downy oaks (Quercus pubescens). The surroundings of Pribeta are also home to bee-eater (Merops apiaster) nesting tunnels. Another natural area lies by the Chapel of the Virgin Mary outside the built-up area of Pribeta. Protected pedunculate oaks, autumn crocuses, pheasant’s eye and other protected plants grow there.

Circular Trail

The Dr. Ernő Mátyás Educational Trail is a self-guided, ring-shaped circular trail in Pribeta that is accessible year-round. It is 11 km long, has an elevation gain of 65 m and takes approximately four hours. The trail includes seven stations. The circular trail begins at the primary school in Pribeta and focuses on history, culture and natural sciences.

Viticulture

In the southern hills of Pribeta, part of the municipality’s area is suitable for viticulture. Vineyards have been mentioned there since 1720. This historical reference adds an agricultural aspect to the town’s cultural and scenic features.
