Jasovská Cave is one of the most significant caves in the Slovak Karst National Park. As part of the Caves of the Slovak and Aggtelek Karst, it is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.

Nature
Jánošíkova bašta is a limestone rock formation above the Hornád Valley, offering views of the Hornád Valley, the Humenec Nature Reserve, the Slanské vrchy mountains and the castle hill with the ruins of Kysacký hrad Castle. It is also a popular climbing area, accessible from the municipality of Kysak via a red-marked hiking trail.
The Zádielska tiesňava educational trail lies in the Slovak Karst National Park and the Zádielska tiesňava National Nature Reserve. It provides information about the local flora and fauna, karst formations and the use of the plateau.
Herľany in Košice-Okolie District is known for the Herliansky gejzír, described as Europe’s only cold geyser. It was activated by drilling a 404.5-metre-deep borehole and produces low-temperature thermal water. It currently erupts at intervals of 34 to 36 hours; each eruption lasts 25 minutes.
Rankovské skaly are protected volcanic rock formations in the Slanské vrchy mountains. A marked green hiking trail to the rocks begins in Herľany and leads through woodland to the summit.
Kysacká Cave is a 72-metre-long natural monument with stalactites, stalagmites and flowstone waterfalls. It is an important wintering site for seven bat species.
Culture
The Hámor in Medzev is a historic smithy operated by running water. The Slovak Technical Museum manages the Hámor and makes it accessible as a living technical monument. The energy of the running water powered forging hammers, bellows and blowers for the furnaces there.
The Premonstratensian Monastery of Jasov is a Baroque complex consisting of the Church of Saint John the Baptist, the Premonstratensian monastery and a French monastery garden. The Premonstratensian monastery complex in Jasov is one of Slovakia’s national cultural monuments. Visitors can see it on guided tours of the church, former archive, library, halls, hunting salon, garden, convent and current exhibitions.
Kysacký hrad Castle was probably built at the end of the 13th century; the first references date from 1300. Turniansky hrad Castle was founded by the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries at the latest and is now freely accessible to the public.
The Hall of Military Glory in Dargov offers a virtual tour. Groups of more than ten people can visit it by prior arrangement.
The Medzev Observatory and Planetarium offers presentations and explanations in the planetarium, outdoor sky observation in suitable weather conditions, and a permanent meteorite exhibition.
The Nižná Myšľa archaeological open-air museum consists of two settlements and a burial site more than 200 metres away from them, with over 900 graves. The Máté Laczkó Szepsiho Wine Museum in Moldava nad Bodvou presents wine production, the wine route and the historic cellars.
Trails
Two important hiking trails lead to Turniansky hrad Castle: one begins in Háj and follows the yellow hiking trail, while the other starts in Turňa nad Bodvou and partly follows the blue hiking trail.
The Hornád–Milič educational trail connects the municipalities of Trstené pri Hornáde, Ždaňa, Skároš, Nižná Myšľa and Vyšná Myšľa and is almost 61 kilometres long. It consists of several loop trails; a digital hiking map with GPS navigation is also available.
Recreation
Kúpele Štós has a complex of water and steam baths with herbal, eucalyptus and Finnish saunas, a vitality shower, a water walkway, hydromassage pools and a tepidarium. The grounds include a forest park with more than 200 species of rare trees and flowers, an artificial stream and cascades with a fountain.
