The Turany–Černík nature trail lies at the foot of Malá Fatra National Park and is accessible year-round. It is an easy, self-guided circular route for pedestrians with a focus on natural history and local history. It begins in Turany at the railway station or in the square in front of the municipal office; the first information boards stand in this square.

Nature

In places, springs, wells and other types of wetlands emerge on the alluvial fan. These landscape features add another natural-history aspect to the course of the nature trail without the route losing its historical focus.

Culture and history

The Roman Catholic Church of St. Gall (Kostol sv. Gála), together with its bell tower, church cemetery and surrounding wall, is registered as a national cultural monument. It was built in 1300 or 1304 on the remains of a Gothic chapel dating from around 1157. The church also contains a rare Gothic altar of Saint Catherine, which was allegedly brought from Spišská Kapitula.

The present-day Evangelical church building in Turany was built in 1933 on the site of a toleration church erected in 1786. The Evangelical church was consecrated on May 6, 1934. In the centre of Turany stands a monument with a bust of Miloš Alexander Bazovský. There is also a monument to the victims of the Second World War in the square in Turany.

Museum

The museum is located in the cultural centre on Budovateľská Street in the south of Turany. Visits by organised groups can be arranged with the Turany municipal office at +421 917 216 268 or by email at kultura@turany.sk.

The local museum preserves documents on the history and present of Turany and also presents a collection of the local fauna and flora. The permanent exhibitions include Old Turany, nature, fish and fishing, Miloš Alexander Bazovský and Turany, the history of skiing in the Turiec region, a children's area, historical technology, clothing of the past and the history of sport.
