Holiday apartment in Lipovec: Nature at the foot of the Little Fatra
Lipovec is located in the Turiec Basin, at the foot of the Little Fatra mountains and on the right bank of the Váh River. The landscape around the village is characterised by forests: most of the area consists of deciduous and mixed forests. Above Lipovec rises Panošiná, a prominent mountain in the southern Little Fatra with an elevation of 1,021.8 metres. The municipality therefore combines a basin landscape, riverbanks, wooded slopes and a clearly prominent mountain.
Nature
The Little Fatra National Park lies directly within the cadastral area of Lipovec; the third level of protection applies there. The Hajasová Nature Reserve is also one of the protected areas in the cadastral area. It protects forest communities at lower elevations in the Hoskora catchment area. The area provides suitable living conditions for numerous species of forest plants, fungi and animals. The protected areas thus preserve different forest and natural environments within the municipality.
In the immediate vicinity of Lipovec, the small Široká pond offers opportunities for recreation and easy walks in nature. In winter, the pond freezes over and provides space for ice skating. The pond complements the larger landscape areas with a smaller natural area that varies with the seasons.
Activities
The Turčianska cycling route passes through Lipovec. The route is suitable for trekking and mountain bikes. A yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Lipovec via the monument to the summit of Panošiná. Another ascent follows the hiking trail to Kľačianska Magura; thanks to the natural surroundings and the views, it offers vistas across the entire Little Fatra. The village area therefore includes both a designated cycling connection and marked trails leading to various named destinations.
The water is also connected by its own route: a 14-kilometre river-trip route leads from Lipovec to Strečno. The river trip from Lipovec to Strečno takes about two hours. Its length and approximate duration give this connection a clearly defined timeframe and spatial scope.
Sports activities are available in the centre of Lipovec. The Leisure and Sports Centre is open to children, young people, adults and seniors, as well as local organisations and interest groups. It serves residents and visitors to Lipovec for sporting, recreational and leisure activities. In addition to the trails and the river route, the range of activities described therefore also includes an offering in the village centre.
Culture
A monument erected in 1948 stands below Panošiná. Memorial and hiking gatherings are held on Panošiná every year. The annual ascent commemorates the events of the fighting near Strečno during the Slovak National Uprising. The mountain is therefore associated not only with a hiking trail but also with an annual commemoration.
The bell tower stands in the centre of Lipovec, on the southern edge of the municipal cemetery. It was built in 1959 to replace an earlier bell tower dating from 1838. Inside is a late Baroque bell from 1780. The structure thus reflects several points in local history: the earlier bell tower, its replacement and the older bell inside.
