Bela-Dulice: Mountains, Cultural Monuments and Holiday Apartment

Belá-Dulice is located in the mountainous surroundings of the Veľká Fatra in the northeastern part of the Turiec Basin. The landscape, trails and historical sites form a closely interconnected local and regional setting here.

Nature

Lysec is a national nature reserve. The named mapped mountains Lučenec, Tlstá, Preložnica and Prieraztin can be found in the surroundings of Belá-Dulice. The wider regional area also includes the named mapped ruins of Zniev, Starý Hrad and Likava. The geographical context thus extends from the immediate mountainous surroundings of the village, through the named mountains in the vicinity, to the ruins in the wider regional area.

Trails and Recreation Centre

Several activities connect Belá-Dulice with Jasenská dolina. The educational trail between the municipality of Belá-Dulice and the Jasenská dolina–Kašová recreation centre has been accessible since 2009 and is suitable for recreational and sporting activities such as Nordic walking. A marked blue cycle route from Belá-Dulice to Jasenská dolina is 8 km long. The educational trail and the cycle route are clearly distinguished by their form: one combines nature observation and exercise, while the other is designated as a marked blue route.

Jasenská dolina is a year-round recreation centre. Jasenská dolina has three groomed cross-country ski trails with a total length of 7 km. A moderately difficult hike to Lysec at an elevation of 1,381 m leads from Belianska dolina and Jasenská dolina. This area therefore offers activities for various forms of exercise side by side: the educational trail with Nordic walking, the 8 km cycle route, the groomed ski trails and the moderately difficult hike with its stated destination and elevation.

Culture

Historical sites in Dulice include the historic bell tower at Rajčuli, dating from 1861. Dulický Hrádok is a National Cultural Monument and an archaeological site from the early historical period. Hradište is also a National Cultural Monument from the early historical period and has a trapezoidal ground plan dating from the La Tène period. These three sites represent different historical forms: a bell tower, an archaeological site and a place with a preserved ground-plan form.

The Roman Catholic Church of Najsvätejšieho tela Kristovho stands in Belá-Dulice; it is an Early Gothic church from the last third of the 13th century. It was renovated in 1749 and 1856. Regional tradition is also present: the Lysec folklore ensemble includes the dances “Čardáše z Belej” and “Horňje lúky” from Belá-Dulice in its repertoire. Ecclesiastical architectural history, later renovations and traditional dances thus complement the archaeological and historical sites.

The Turčianske divadelné dni is an annual regional competition and showcase of non-professional adult theatre, Belopotockého Mikuláš, and youth theatre, FEDIM. The municipality of Belá-Dulice is a co-organiser; the event takes place in the cultural centre in Belá-Dulice.
