Holiday apartment in Ďurkovce: Landscape, history and culture
Ďurkovce is located in a shallow valley of the Ipeľ Basin at the southeastern foot of the Krupinská planina. The village extends on both sides of the Ďurkovský potok and has preserved its agricultural character to this day. The landscape also includes the wetland “Ďurkovce pri osade Peťov”, which covers an area of 1.5 hectares in Ďurkovce.
Culture
The local development is reflected in unusual historical details. There has never been a church in Ďurkovce. After 1945, however, a school with Slovak as the language of instruction was established; later, Hungarian was also taught at the school in Ďurkovce. Until 1990, the village used exclusively a wooden bell tower. A new bell tower was built in 1991. In the centre of Ďurkovce, there is also the “Harangláb Gyürkön” bell tower on the main road.
At the beginning of the road to Ďurkovce, the simple wooden cross “Gyürky-kereszt” stands on the right. The painted corpus of Christ and the metal decorations, including a chalice, are part of its visible design. At the eastern entrance to the cemetery in Ďurkovce stand the grave monument and memorial plaque for Rákóczi Rozália. The grave monument is classified as a local monument, preserved and in good condition.
A few steps from the entrance to the cemetery in Ďurkovce stands the simple metal cross “Egry-kereszt”. The cross has been preserved and is well maintained; it was created in 1988. It is located at 48.13573, 19.17526, a few metres from the cemetery entrance closer to the village, on the left side of the path to the funeral hall.
History and community life
Ďurkovce is first mentioned in 1262 under the name “Obec Gyurky”. Until the 19th century, Ďurkovce was a noble village belonging to the Gyürki family. Every year, Ďurkovce organises a sports afternoon for children and young people. The municipality also presents itself every year at the festival of Palóc dishes in Kamenné Kosihy.
Accommodation
For a holiday apartment in Ďurkovce, it is worth looking at the specific offer page: there, you can compare offers and, before booking, check the exact location, accommodation type, occupancy, included services, price components, and booking and cancellation conditions. Even accommodation with a different designation can be assessed using these fields for comparison. The decisive factor is the information shown for each individual offer. Also make sure whether the price applies per night or for the entire stay, which costs are already included and which are listed separately. The occupancy information should clearly indicate how many people the respective offer is intended for. Regarding the conditions, a complete indication of deadlines, possible fees and the applicable cancellation rules is helpful. This keeps the checked offer details clearly separate from the local information.
