Holiday apartment in Bátorová: Churches, Folklore and Karikáš

Bátorová can be explored through its cultural heritage, local traditions and natural attractions. Culture

The Protestant church in Bátorová was converted from a chapel built in 1903. The Roman Catholic church in Bátorová also goes back to an older structure: it was converted in 1966–1967 from the chapel and family crypt of the Blaškovičovci, dating from 1870. The bell tower is the oldest building in Bátorová and has a Baroque bell from 1740.

The local folklore tradition includes the Agačinka group, which was established at the end of November 1973 in connection with the local organisation of the Slovak Women's Union. In 2023, Agačinka released its first CD, entitled “Bátorovská agačinka zelená sa”. A documented performance took place on 17 August 2024: the Agačinka folklore group from Bátorová performed the programme “šúpanie kukurice” at the Hontianska paráda folklore festival in Hrušov.

Nature

A considerable part of the Nenince water reservoir lies within the cadastral area of Bátorová. The reservoir is well stocked with freshwater fish and is used by anglers from the entire surrounding area. This makes it one of the named local attractions whose use is explicitly associated with fishing.

The Karikáš pheasantry is located in Bátorová. It is associated with opportunities for recreation and tourism. The Karikáš nature pond in Bátorová should be considered separately; it is also associated with recreational opportunities. On 1 May 2024, a walk to the oldest oak tree in the municipality took place in Bátorová.

Community life

The third edition of “Bátorovská vareška” was announced for 11 July 2026 in Bátorová as the Municipality Day. The date is therefore presented as an announced event scheduled for that day. Public information boards were also installed: in 2023, a wooden information board was erected by the bus stop in the car park in Bátorová. In 2024, another notice board was installed on the grounds of the Bátorová municipal office.
