Holiday apartment in Radnovce: manor house, church and literary heritage

Radnovce showcases its history through tangible places and living memories. The oldest landmark in the village is a Neoclassical manor house from the first half of the 19th century. It stands next to the Reformed church and was later also used as a parsonage. The church was built in 1875 and restored in 1895 in an eclectic Pseudo-Romanesque–Gothic style. It is in good condition and continues to serve its religious purpose.

Culture

Pósa Lajos is closely associated with Radnovce, where he was born. He was a writer, journalist and editor, as well as one of the founders of modern Hungarian children's literature. His monument was unveiled on 1 July 1934 as part of a nationwide celebration, in front of a large audience, in front of the school. On Pósa Lajos's birthday, the local community regularly lays wreaths at his monument.

Another literary trace can be found in the village centre. The memorial plaque for Radnóti Miklós is attached to the wall of the school beside the main road. It dates from 2004, is still in place and is well maintained. The poet visited Radnovce in 1941 and derived his literary name from the settlement.

Village life

The village days are also among the documented forms of local community life. In Radnovce, they were held under the names Falunap and Deň obce in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019. The two names refer to the different linguistic designations of these events.

History

The oldest confirmed settlement in the cadastral area of Radnovce dates back to the Late Bronze Age. The documented history of the village therefore reaches far beyond the buildings and memorial markers visible today.
