Culture

The Evangelical church in Turičky is part of the area’s sacred cultural history. Its wooden bell tower and chancel are listed in the Central Register of Monuments of the Slovak Republic. The bell tower is one of the oldest wooden religious buildings and was already standing in 1371. The chancel contains valuable wall frescoes depicting several biblical motifs. The Evangelical church in Cinobaňa also preserves a pewter bowl from the 14th century; in the 18th century, it was used as part of the baptismal font. The churches in Turičky and Cinobaňa therefore contain different examples of sacred design and use.

Glassmaking

Katarínska Huta has a glassmaking heritage that dates back to a glassworks founded in 1836. Under the name R-Glass, the glassworks resumed production in 2015. It continues the tradition of producing soda-lime beverage glass, predominantly as machine-made stemware without a stem; smaller quantities of stemmed glass are also made by hand. Under the Katarínska Huta brand, R-Glass also produces handmade mouth-blown glassware. Local traditions

Public and culinary customs also form part of the local character. The “Cinobanský kotlík” competition is a recurring public goulash-cooking contest; another edition took place in Cinobaňa in 2025.
