The church in Ladzany was built at the beginning of the 13th century, reconstructed in the first half of the 15th century and is now Evangelical. The locality of Tlstý vrch, which belongs to the category of sites of European importance, is also located within the cadastral area.

History

Historic wine cellars carved into tuff rock can be found in the Biele Dráhy area near Ladzany. Some cellars preserve foundation stones on the front wall bearing the construction date and the name of the owner. At some entrances, preserved doors carved from oak can be seen; they were made without a single nail. Their former function points to a turbulent period: the historic wine cellars in Biele Dráhy once served local residents as protection from Ottoman attacks.

Traditions

Every year, Ladzany hosts the event “Jablková chuť Hontu po Ladziansky”. It is dedicated to fruit growing and the preparation of various culinary specialities. An orchard in the cadastral area of Ladzany preserves the original apple gene pool of the area. On 12 September 2026, the “Tradičná chuť Hontu” competition in Ladzany will focus on cooking traditional dishes; the event also includes gastronomy, culture and folk crafts.

Getting Around
