Roșu: Bronze Age Settlement, Forest and Cultural Attractions

Culture and History

Roșu–La Pădure combines an archaeological site with a distinctive natural area: the Bronze Age settlement lies on the right bank of the Dâmbovița, at the eastern corner of Roșu Forest. The site is therefore closely connected with the riverbank and the forest area, without the individual landscape and historical references merging into one another.

The religious history includes the parish church of Roșu, dedicated to Izvorul Tămăduirii. The church was reconsecrated after extensive consolidation, restoration and beautification works. For those interested in culture, a Bronze Age settlement and a religious building with its own dedication thus stand side by side in different historical contexts.

Cultural attractions in the vicinity of Roșu include Cotroceni Palace and the Palace of the Parliament. Also nearby are the Bustul Regelui Mihai I al României monument and the Statuia Wolfgang Goethe. These destinations broaden the view of local history with other notable buildings and monuments in the surrounding area.

Nature and Parks

Pădurea Roșu Forest covers 24 hectares and is a forest area publicly owned by Chiajna commune. Its location at the eastern corner of the Roșu–La Pădure Bronze Age settlement connects the natural area with the archaeological site, while the Dâmbovița remains an independent river reference.

Drumul Taberei Park and Bazilescu Park are located in the immediate vicinity of Roșu. Herastrau Park and Cișmigiu Park are located in the surrounding area of Roșu.

Routes and Running Activities

The “Traseu Sectorul 6 – Lacul Morii” route leads from Lacul Morii Island through Giuleşti Sârbi and Roșu commune to Chiajna commune.

No fixed dates or times were initially scheduled for runs and training sessions for TTR RUN WEST. Regular announcements were to be made through the TIME TRIAL RUNNING, CHIAJNA ALEARGĂ and other running groups. The frequency was to depend on the interest and commitment of the runners. For planned runs, current announcements and time details from the groups mentioned are therefore authoritative.

Most TTR RUN WEST training sessions were to begin in the Podul Roșu area or at the entrance to Dinamic Parc. TTR RUN WEST included group runs and varied training sessions on different routes in Roșu. To prepare for participation, current information about dates and the respective route can be checked.

Venue

For the TTR BACKYARD ULTRA 2026, the venue was the sports hall of Liceului Tehnologic „Doamna Chiajna” in the village of Roșu, Chiajna commune, Ilfov, at Strada 1 Decembrie 1918 no. 90. Access was via Aleea Lacul Dâmbovița.
