Culture and history

Mogoşoaia Palace houses the Liana and Dan Nasta Donation, a comparative art collection comprising approximately 300 works. Around 10 temporary exhibitions of essayistic or contemporary art are held each year in the palace's ground-floor rooms and outbuildings. The Cuhnia, the palace's former princely kitchen, is now an exhibition space. The rooms thus preserve various traces of their former use while also accommodating contemporary art presentations. The Gheorghe Bibescu Chapel is the family necropolis of the last owners of the Mogoşoaia estate and their relatives. The Gheţăria is the palace's former ice store. The Sfântul Gheorghe Church was built by Constantin Brâncoveanu in 1688.

Nature

The park, lake, orchard and historic garden cover 36.4 hectares. These four components are designated historic monuments, thereby combining landscaped areas with the heritage-protected character of the estate. The English park was laid out under the direction of Martha Bibescu in 1921–1922. It includes Italian-style gardens. The Serele Nicolae Bibescu are a French greenhouse complex dating from 1890. Today, the Serele Nicolae Bibescu are used for growing flowers and for a visual arts education workshop for children. Historic gardens, lake, orchard and greenhouses therefore form part of the same landscape context described here.

Activities

Academia Ecvestra Mogosoaia offers riding courses and riding lessons for children and adults of all ages and skill levels, under the guidance of instructors and trainers. In addition, organised rides are available for riders who can already control a horse from the saddle. The tours are accompanied by a specialised instructor and last up to 60 minutes. Courses and rides therefore differ both in their stated format and in the riding experience required: while the courses are offered for all ages and skill levels, the rides are intended for riders who already have experience.
