Geographical location

The archaeological site of Dimieni, northwest of the village, is located 1.50 km west of the Tunari–Balotești road, in the extreme northwest of the municipality near the border with the UAT of Otopeni and 150 m south of the railway line. South of the village lies the Geto-Dacian settlement of Dimieni, 50 m west of the DJ Tunari–Dimieni road, on a ridge cut through by a drainage ditch for CA2. The Bronze Age settlement of Dimieni lies on the eastern edge of Dimieni village towards the municipality of Dascălu, 2,000 m east of the Tunari–Balotești road. Northwest of the village lies the La Tène settlement of Dimieni, 1.50 km west of the Tunari–Balotești road and 1.2 km south of the railway line; it is located in the extreme northwest of the municipality of Tunari.

The four archaeological sites are therefore distributed across different sides and peripheral areas of the village. The archaeological site and the La Tène settlement lie northwest of Dimieni, the Geto-Dacian settlement south of it, and the Bronze Age settlement east of it. Reference points include not only the Tunari–Balotești and Tunari–Dimieni roads, but also the railway line, the border with the UAT of Otopeni, the municipality of Dascălu, and the drainage ditch for CA2.

Culture

The parish church of Dimieni is dedicated to Saint Dimitrie Basarabov. The church of Dimieni was extensively beautified over a long period. The Sf. Charbel Church was consecrated during a pastoral visit to Bucharest from 12 to 15 September 2013. The Maronite Sf. Charbel Church was the first Maronite place of worship in Romania and in Central and Eastern Europe. A sacred vestment is displayed in a place of honour in the church in Dimieni village.

The Obeliscul ICE LOUNGE monument is located in the vicinity of Dimieni. The Statuia Wolfgang Goethe monument is also located in the vicinity of Dimieni. The Fântâna Franceză monument is likewise located in the vicinity of Dimieni. Cotroceni Palace is located in the wider regional surroundings of Dimieni.

Bazilescu Park is located in the vicinity of Dimieni. Herăstrău Park is also located in the vicinity of Dimieni. Floreasca Park is additionally located in the vicinity of Dimieni. Parcul Cinematograf Floreasca is likewise located in the vicinity of Dimieni.

Cycling route

The SSP cycling route runs from Bucharest via Dimieni, Căciulata, Moara Vlăsiei, Lipia, Merii Petchii, Moara Vlăsiei, Dascălu, and Tunari, returning to Bucharest. Moara Vlăsiei appears twice in the route sequence given. The route therefore connects Dimieni both with places in the surrounding area and with Bucharest, its starting and ending point. Particular attention is required on sections of public roads with heavy traffic along the SSP cycling route. This notice refers to the relevant road sections within the route.
