Chiajna Between History and Riverside Landscapes

The archaeological site of Chiajna includes a Neolithic settlement. It is located on the high bank of the Dâmbovița between a manor house and a cemetery. This setting connects the settlement with a clear link to the surrounding landscape. The Church of “Sfântul Nicolae” in Chiajna is classified as a listed monument and dates from 1831–1897. This places its historical timeline between a Neolithic settlement and a 19th-century church building. The church stands in the village of Chiajna.

The Promenada Chiajna is located on the banks of the Dâmbovița River in the locality of Chiajna. Its connection with the river complements the archaeological site with a landscape perspective, without equating the two destinations. In addition, the promenade at Lacul Morii is 2,155 metres long. This specific distance provides a clear framework for a longer walk and can be taken into account when planning the day. In Chiajna, the view therefore shifts between the elevated riverbank, the riverbank itself and a long promenade. Anyone walking at Lacul Morii can plan the 2,155 metres as a route of its own and divide the walk into several sections.

Water Attractions with Different Focal Points

At the water park, Divertiland Water Park offers a distinct focus. It has a wave pool with six different types of waves. Aqua Garden is a swimming pool for private events, parties and birthdays at 70 Rezervelor in Chiajna. The two attractions therefore offer different focal points for a stay by the water. This allows the water attractions in Chiajna to be considered independently of the church, settlement and riverside promenades.

Parks and Other Attractions

The area around Chiajna also includes Bazilescu Park, Drumul Taberei Park, Parcul Herastrau and Cișmigiu Park. The four parks add another focus for day planning alongside the water and river themes. Mănăstirea Chiajna-Giulești is located on the administrative boundary between Sector 1, Sector 6 and the commune of Chiajna. The “Doamna Chiajna” Cultural Centre

The “Doamna Chiajna” Cultural Centre has a hall with 200 seats as well as music and ballet rooms. The music rooms are equipped with instruments, while the ballet rooms have ballet bars and mirrors.
