Culture and History

Among the cultural and historical attractions designated in Pașcani is the Iordache-Cantacuzino House. The Sf. Mihail și Gavriil Church is also designated as a cultural and historical attraction. It was built in the second half of the 17th century. It is additionally designated as a historic monument. The Iordache-Cantacuzino House is also designated as a historic monument. The ruins of the Palace of the Cantacuzino-Pașcanu Family in Pașcani are considered to be a medieval palace dating from around 1650. The ruins were partially renovated in the 19th century. The Sfânta Vineri Church in Pașcani was built and decorated between 1991 and 2024.

Museum and Cultural Centre

The Pașcani Municipal Museum was founded in December 1997. It is divided into three departments: history, ethnography and religion. The current building of the Pașcani Cultural Centre was inaugurated in 1960. The cultural centre offers cultural groups and courses. It also supports the “Rapsozii Siretului” folklore ensemble. In 2026, the Constantin-Ciopraga Symposium at the Pașcani Cultural Centre reached its twelfth edition.

Crafts and Events

The 2024 Târgul Meșterilor Populari had the promotion of traditional arts and crafts and the education of the public, especially young people, among its main objectives. The programme included five introductory workshops on pottery, sgraffito ceramics, weaving, woodworking and mask-making. From 19 to 21 July 2024, the Târgul Meșterilor Populari was held on Strada Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt in Pașcani as its 15th consecutive edition; it is also known as Târgul de Sântilie.

Landscape and Recreation

The Siret Valley in this section and the wooded hills around Pașcani are among the landscape features that promote tourism. Tourist facilities in the Codrii Pașcanilor form part of the foundations of weekend and recreational tourism in and around Pașcani. The forest in the area of the Moțca commune is also among these foundations. Excursions in the immediate surroundings of the Siret River are likewise part of the foundations of weekend and recreational tourism.

Surroundings and Connections

The Al.-I.-Cuza Palace in Ruginoasa is located 17 km east of Pașcani. It was built in 1811. Al. I. Cuza acquired it in 1862. The palace was built in the Neo-Gothic style. Pașcani is considered a railway junction with connections towards Iași, the Eastern Carpathians, Bucharest, the Danube Delta and the Black Sea coast. Mihail Sadoveanu’s childhood home is located in the Vatra district, not far from Pașcani’s civic centre.

The historical references extend across several periods: following the ruins of the Palace of the Cantacuzino-Pașcanu Family dating from around 1650 and the church from the second half of the 17th century are the palace in Ruginoasa, built in 1811, and the Sfânta Vineri Church, built and decorated between 1991 and 2024; the cultural centre was inaugurated in 1960, and the museum was founded in December 1997.
