The parish church of Budăi is dedicated to “Învierea Domnului”, the Romanian designation for the Resurrection of the Lord. Its patronal feast is celebrated at Easter. Almost every year, a service led by the vicar bishop of the Diocese of Iași takes place in the Învierea Domnului Church in Budăi.

The older church made of wattle and daub in Budăi served as a cemetery chapel before it was replaced. The church building has a cruciform ground plan, a central tower, and a bell tower above the entrance porch.

History

The settlement of Budăi was first mentioned on 12 September 1468. This mention dates from the reign of Ștefan cel Mare and Sfânt; at that time, the settlement was called Frâncești. Frâncești also appears in a princely charter issued by Alexandru Iliaș, dated 1 November 1632.

In 1842, the Frâncești estate belonged to the Trei Ierarhi Monastery. The estate also belonged to this monastery in 1843. The settlement has been documented under the name Budăi since the late 19th or early 20th century.

The names handed down through the sources show a local history in which Frâncești first appears in the 1468 mention and later in the 1632 charter. For the estate, affiliation with the Trei Ierarhi Monastery is recorded for both 1842 and 1843, while the name Budăi can only be documented from the late 19th or early 20th century onward.
