Culture and History

At Valea Satului 222 stands the Înălţarea Domnului Church. It is listed as a cultural heritage site and dates from 1848.

The Ion Badea House is located in Dealul Tătărani and dates from the 19th century. The household’s wooden granary also dates from the 19th century.

In Tătărani, the Sfânta Treime Church was consecrated on 3 May 2009. In front of the village’s primary school stands a stone cross dating from 1738–1739. The church and the stone cross therefore belong to different periods in the village’s history: the consecration of Sfânta Treime is a precisely dated event from the recent past, while the cross dates back to the 18th century.

The village of Tătărani also appears in a document from 1634. It was issued by Prince Matei Basarab Voievod. The place name is therefore documented as early as the 17th century, adding an early written reference to the visible historical evidence in the village.

The historical information thus ranges from the written mention of the village in 1634, through the stone cross from 1738–1739, to the buildings from the 19th century. The consecration of the Sfânta Treime Church on 3 May 2009 also adds a clearly dated event from the village’s recent history.

Traditions and Events

Among the traditions preserved in the Tătărani commune is the annual fair held in honour of Saint Parascheva. The name of the celebration refers to its religious dedication, while the fair itself is regarded as an annual tradition passed down in the commune. Its regular recurrence places the custom within the commune’s yearly cycle.

Colindatul, the traditional Christmas carolling, continues to be a defining custom in Tătărani. Tătărani’s commune celebration takes place on 15 August and includes cultural events every year.

Various forms of community life thus coexist in Tătărani: the fair returns annually in honour of Saint Parascheva, Colindatul is associated with traditional Christmas carolling, and the commune celebration is dated to 15 August. The cultural events are part of the scope of this celebration every year.

Landscape

Tătărani is located in a hilly landscape. The Ainoasei Valley, also called the Aninoasei Valley, lies near the village of Căprioru and offers a forest path as well as green sections of valley. The names Ainoasei Valley and Aninoasei Valley refer to the same valley mentioned here.

The landscape therefore combines Tătărani’s hilly setting with a nearby valley area near Căprioru. For the Ainoasei Valley, both the forest path and the green valley sections are mentioned; both features belong to the same landscape description and stand alongside the village’s historical and cultural details.
