Crevedia can be discovered through very different traces: riding lessons for children and adults sit alongside a commune history shaped by church art and an archaeological site. The historic “Sf. Nicolae” Church in Mănăstirea, on the dam between Lakes Zmeul and Buftea, is a particularly vivid example. When choosing a holiday rental, consider whether riding activities or cultural discoveries will shape your stay: some experiences are in Crevedia, while others are elsewhere in the commune.

Horse riding, from introductory lessons to specialised training

Caii de la Dârza in Crevedia offers introductory lessons for children and adults. Qualified instructors focus on safety and ensuring that the basic techniques are learned correctly. The lessons are therefore suited to anyone wanting to start with the fundamentals, whether children or adults are taking part.

Experienced riders can take advanced courses and specialised training in Dârza, in the commune of Crevedia, including dressage and show jumping. Rides through the countryside are also available. The two riding options mainly differ in experience level and focus: one centres on the basics, while the other offers further training and rides. Check booking arrangements directly, and confirm the availability of advanced sessions before travelling.

Churches and historic places in the commune

The historic “Sf. Nicolae” Church, known as “Biserica dintre ape”, stands in Mănăstirea on the dam between Lakes Zmeul and Buftea. It is dated to 1669. Historical accounts also date the construction of the dam to 1669: according to these accounts, it was built by Grand Logothete Radu Crețulescu, the village’s owner, and his brother Pădure Postelnicul.

The interior paintings also give the church a distinctive art-historical dimension. They preserve Byzantine elements and show influences from the period between the Renaissance and Baroque. The older phase of painting is particularly well preserved in the naos. The colourful figures there are characteristic of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Another point in time is marked by the Orthodox “Sf. Voievozi” Church in Cocani, in the commune of Crevedia: it is dated to 1800. South of Cocani is the Cocani–Vii archaeological site, on the left bank of the Crevedia River. Alongside the churches, the riverside location and archaeological history are therefore among the local points of interest to consider when planning a trip.

A look at local produce

When Piața AgroreX opened in Crevedia, it was set up as a market exclusively for local fruit and vegetable producers. Seasonal produce from Romanian farmers’ gardens was sold there directly. This focus on the market adds a glimpse of the regional produce trade to the area’s church and local history.

Getting there and choosing a convenient base

National Road DN1A is an important point of reference for getting around the commune: it crosses the commune of Crevedia and connects Bucharest with Ploiești via Buftea. The commune is also served by Dârza stop on the Bucharest–Ploiești railway line. If you plan to travel by train, check the current services at Dârza stop.

When choosing your holiday rental, use your planned activities as a starting point: are you interested in introductory lessons in Crevedia, advanced riding training in Dârza, or perhaps churches and historic places around the commune? This way, your choice of base stays aligned with the travel experience you are looking for.
