Corbii Mari: Churches, Manor Ruins and Nature Reserve

The Biserica Sfânta Treime din Corbii Mari dates from the late medieval period and was built between 1693 and 1705. The municipality’s administrative area also contains a floristic and faunistic nature reserve. The present-day Biserica Sfânta Treime was built during the reign of Constantin Brâncoveanu, which lasted from 1688 to 1714. The patronal icon Sfânta Treime (Cina de la Mamvri) belongs to the Biserica Sfânta Treime din Corbii Mari; the ruins of the medieval Corbeni boyar manor lie in the centre of the village of Corbii Mari, immediately next to the church. The construction period and the period of rule represent different historical levels; the older chapel belongs to the prehistory of the present church building. Getting There

Izvorul de la Corbii Ciungi can be reached from the A1 București–Pitești motorway at the exit near kilometre 49, heading towards Corbii Mari via the DJ711A. Another connection is provided by the DN6 national road (Găești–Giurgiu), which connects Corbii Mari and Izvorul.
