Sibioara: Fishing Theme Park and Dobruja History

The fishing theme park is located in the center of the village of Sibioara, behind the school and near the Orthodox church; it is bordered by Mihail Kogălniceanu and George Bacovia streets.

The park includes children’s play areas with water-themed play complexes, as well as a multi-sports court with artificial turf. The water theme defines the play complexes, while the artificial turf characterizes the multi-sports court. Before visiting the play areas, the park’s current opening hours should be checked. Geographical Location

Sibioara is located on national road DN22 between Constanța and Tulcea. The village is also situated at an intersection with the road to Mihail Kogălniceanu Airport. For a journey on DN22, current road conditions and traffic information can be checked before the trip.

Culture and History

The construction history of the Church of “Sfinții Trei Ierarhi” began with the laying of the foundation stone on 19 May 2004. In 2008, the construction work, fresco painting and beautification work were completed. The church was consecrated on 24 August 2008. Sibioara was originally called Cicracci. Cicracci is mentioned in an account of Evliya Çelebi’s journey through Dobruja in 1656. The history of the area around Sibioara also includes the writer Titus Cergau (1900–1995), who is considered a prominent figure of the area. In “Crâmpeie din Istoria Sibioarei,” Titus Cergau described the places of his homeland; the work is described as a monograph of these native places. The local history combines an earlier name with a travel account and a literary portrayal: Cicracci appears in 1656, and Titus Cergau dedicated a monograph to the places of his homeland.
