Vama Veche is considered a nonconformist holiday destination on the coast. The Vama Veche archaeological site lies north of the town. History and Culture

The wreck of the Greek ship Akra Aktion lies near the coast of Vama Veche. The ship ran aground on 19 February 1981; this date is part of the recorded history of the wreck. The wreck of the Akra Aktion is considered one of Vama Veche's attractions. Describing it as a Greek ship and giving the precisely recorded date of its grounding provide the wreck with a clearly defined historical classification. Crosses more than 100 years old stand in the parish cemetery of Vama Veche. The age reference applies to the cemetery's crosses and preserves their historical character. There are also several museums in the surrounding area: the Muzeul Marinei Române Mangalia Museum and the Muzeul de Arheologie Callatis Museum. The historic surroundings also include the ruins site “Ruinele Cetăţii Fortificaţie Elenistică Albeşti”.

The Peştera Limanu cave and the Peştera Movile cave are located in the vicinity of Vama Veche. Both destinations are named caves and form part of the area's natural surroundings. Tradition, Beach and Season

On 1 May, Ravel's “Boléro” is traditionally played at sunrise in Vama Veche. This brings tourists together on the beach. The musical tradition combines a fixed calendar date with the time of sunrise and the gathering on the beach. A water rescue and first-aid service was put out to tender in Vama Veche for the 2026 season. The reference to the 2026 season stands independently alongside the traditional custom on 1 May. Vama Veche has terraces and restaurants considered particularly original. These dining venues, like the musical tradition and the historic sites, are presented as part of the local character.
