The Muzeul Apei in Floreşti was established in 1992 as Romania’s first and only water museum. It is housed in a pumping station building that had already been put into operation in 1898.

The museum site thus combines the later establishment of the museum with a significantly older technical building. The pumping station is part of the history of the place, just like the exhibition established there.

Culture and History

Cetatea Fetei, also called Cetatea Florești, is a medieval monument in Floreşti. The castle was built in the 13th century and destroyed in the early 15th century; today, only ruins remain.

The bust of Gheorghe Șincai was created by the sculptor Virgil Fulea. It was unveiled in 1978 on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the founding of the first Romanian-language school in the village of Floreşti.

The Romanian parish church Biserica Sfântul Dumitru was built in its entirety between 1830 and 1834. The costs were covered by the canon and professor Dumitru Căian-Tânărul.

The Monumentul Eroilor in Floreşti was erected as a memorial monument in 1925. The initiative came from the school principal at the time, Ioachim Pop.

The memorial sites thus include both the bust of Gheorghe Șincai and the Monumentul Eroilor. The bust in front of Liceul Teoretic „Dumitru Tăuțan“ adds the legacy of a teacher to these historical points of reference.

Recreation in Green Spaces

Parcul de Agrement Florești includes sports fields, an adventure park and a picnic area. The park’s facilities are integrated into a landscaped green space.

The completed Parcul de Agrement Florești project aimed to create a modern recreation park. It was intended to be integrated into the community and accessible to all citizens; people with disabilities were expressly included.

Parcul de Agrement combines the aforementioned sports fields, adventure park and picnic area within a landscaped green space. The completed project therefore encompassed both integration into the community and accessibility for all citizens, including people with disabilities.

For planning a day out, the park therefore provides sports fields, an adventure park and a picnic area as clearly designated facilities. The landscaped green space is part of the park’s spatial layout.

Paths and Memorial Sites

Strada Subcetate was modernized. The aim was to improve access to and connectivity with the new Parcul de Agrement Florești.

The road modernization is thus connected with the park’s accessibility and links. The name of the road and the name of the park identify the two components connected by the project.

The bust of Dumitru Tăuțan stands in front of the Liceul Teoretic „Dumitru Tăuțan“ in Floreşti, which is named after him. It honors his legacy as a teacher.
