Culture

Eftimie Murgu combines technical and sacred cultural history with institutions connected to village life. The Morile de apă de la Rudăria are powered by hydraulic energy from the water of the Rudăria River. The Church of the Ascension of the Lord („Înălţarea Domnului“) in Eftimie Murgu was built in 1810. The Eftimie Murgu Village Museum is an attraction for visitors to the Almăj Valley. The Eftimie Murgu parish also includes a parish library. Hydropower, church architecture, the museum and the library thus represent different forms of cultural heritage. Opening hours for the village museum and parish library can be checked before travelling, as facilities may have their own visiting hours. Church visits can be prepared by checking current opening hours or service times; such times may change.

Other places: Rugi, Păltiniş, Poiana Marului, Novákfalva, Liubcova, Buchin, Zlagna and Poneasca.

Nature

Cheile Rudăriei is a nature reserve of national interest with four natural habitats and diverse flora and fauna, including some protected species. The Stâncile Adam și Eva de la Eftimie Murgu are a geological formation shaped by natural forces over time. The Rudina Mare Mountain and Cracul Zapot Mountain are located in the vicinity of Eftimie Murgu. The Voivodina Mountain and the Cracul Măncin Mountain are also located in the vicinity of Eftimie Murgu. Thus, protected areas, a geological formation and several named mountains meet in this natural setting. For natural areas, it is advisable to check current information on trail conditions before setting out; conditions may change.

Geographical Setting

In the Valea Liliacului area, the Rudina peak at 870 m and the Talva Gabrotului at 992 m shape the relief. It descends by 400–500 m towards the Almăj Depression; the depression is characterised by terraces and hills. The stated elevations and the descent towards the depression describe different relief levels within this area.

Routes

From National Road 57B Oravița–Bozovici–Băile Herculane, a 6.7 km paved road runs along the Rudăria River to Eftimie Murgu. The tourist route from Rudăria was marked with a water mill symbol painted every 40–50 m. As part of the Rudăria project, a 6 km tourist route is also planned in the village; important information points are planned, as is marking with a water-wheel symbol. The existing route and the planned project therefore differ both in length and in the orientation elements envisaged. For travelling via the national road and using the routes, current road, route and transport conditions can be checked before departure.
