The marked Viștișoara–Muchia Drăguşului–Valea Sâmbăta hiking trail connects Viștișoara with Valea Sâmbăta via Curmătura Răcorelelor. The Viștișoara–Șaua Răcorele hiking trail begins in Viștișoara beside the DJ 102G county road. The first 3.5 kilometres of this hiking trail run along a forest road that ends behind the Lunca Largă meadow. The hiking trail reaches an alpine zone from which the wild area of Pietrei Roșii is visible. The Viștișoara–Valea Sâmbăta hiking trail includes a short section with safety cables at La cheie.

In addition to the connection via Curmătura Răcorelelor to Valea Sâmbăta, access to Șaua Răcorele is also one of the routes described. Nature
Lacul Viștișoara lies at an altitude of 2,040 metres below Șaua Viștișoarei in the Viștișoara cirque. The Ferăstrăul stream forms the Răcorele or Ferestrăul waterfall, with a drop of approximately 40 metres. The peaks of La Steghie, Hateganu and La Piatra Mare are located in the immediate vicinity of Viștișoara. Gropanu is a peak in the vicinity of Viștișoara.
The natural area therefore includes both the high-altitude cirque of Lacul Viștișoara and the Răcorele, also known as Ferestrăul, waterfall. The peaks La Steghie, Hateganu and La Piatra Mare are assigned to the immediate vicinity; Gropanu lies in the vicinity of Viștișoara. The waterfall’s drop is given as approximately 40 metres.
Culture and history
Viștișoara began as a hamlet of Viştea de Sus, where villagers stayed overnight during the months when they worked in the forest. Sambata Monastery is a monastery in the immediate vicinity of Viștișoara. Mânăstirea Ortodoxă Brâncoveanu is also a monastery in the immediate vicinity of Viștișoara. Biserica Ortodoxă Sfinţii Împăraţi Constantin şi Elena is a church in the vicinity of Viștișoara. Biserica Viştea de Sus is another church in the vicinity of Viștișoara.
Its origins as a hamlet of Viştea de Sus refer to the former use of the place by villagers who stayed there overnight while working in the forest.
