Culture and History

The church “Tăierea Capului Sfântului Ioan Botezătorul” stands in Vlădești; it is a historical monument dating from 1657.

The building has a rectangular floor plan and is divided according to the Byzantine rite into the altar area, naos and pronaos.

The architectural description thus covers both the external form and the internal sequence of spaces. Altar area, naos and pronaos designate the three areas distinguished in church architecture according to the Byzantine rite.

The Curtea boierilor Vlădescu ensemble is located in the village of Vlădești, in the municipality of Vlădești. It dates from the 17th century.

The ensemble adds another preserved connection to the 17th century to the village’s historical heritage. Its name refers to Curtea boierilor Vlădescu in the village of Vlădești, in the municipality of the same name.

The village of Vlădești is documented in a charter issued on 23 August 1437 by the chancery of Vlad Dracul.

The documentary record thus names both the village and the specific date and issuer of the charter: 23 August 1437 and the chancery of Vlad Dracul.

A war memorial in Vlădești commemorates those who fell in the War of Independence, the First World War and the Second World War.

Only the ruins of a compact, square building dating from the 17th century remain today in the immediate vicinity of the church. These ruins may possibly be those of the former Cula Vlădescu. The building’s masonry consists of stone and bricks.

The ruins therefore preserve information about their current state of preservation, compact square form and the two masonry materials used. The attribution to the former Cula Vlădescu explicitly remains a possibility, while the dating to the 17th century is stated.

Landscape

The territory of the municipality of Vlădești lies on the northeastern edge of the Getic Plateau. It belongs to the subregion of Dealurile Argeșului, which is part of the group of high, hilly piedmont regions.

The geographical classification thus names, in sequence, the Getic Plateau, the subregion of Dealurile Argeșului and the group of high, hilly piedmont regions. Vlădești is located on the northeastern edge of the plateau.

The municipal area has uneven terrain of the Cândești type. The landscape also includes the zone of transition between beech and sessile oak stands. The boundaries of this zone lie at elevations between 300 m and 700–800 m.

The landscape thus combines the designation of the Cândești-type relief with the transition between beech and sessile oak stands. An altitudinal range of 300 m to 700–800 m is specified for this transition zone.

The Bratia River crosses the territory of the municipality of Vlădești.

Road Connection

County road DJ 732 runs along the Stâlpeni (DN 73)–Vlădești–Slănic (DN 73C) corridor. It connects DN 73 with DN 73C. The road is 25.188 km long.

The named route therefore includes the two national roads DN 73 and DN 73C, as well as Stâlpeni, Vlădești and Slănic as points along the corridor. The stated length of the county road is 25.188 km.

Traditional Event

A traditional village hora was scheduled to take place in Vlădești on 21 February. It was part of the “Hora din inima satului” programme.

The event is specifically dated 21 February and is also assigned to the “Hora din inima satului” programme. A traditional village hora is named as the form of the event.
