Cycling Route

Valea Hotarului lies along the Vârful Leaota cycling route, which follows the unpaved DJ725 towards Stoenești and passes through the village. With a total length of approximately 60 km, the focus is on a longer route whose course incorporates both the road layout and the settlement. The approximate length remains important for planning; before setting out, current information on route conditions and, where applicable, transport times should be checked.

Waterways and Peaks

In Dragoslavele, Valea Hotarului is part of a dense network of permanently flowing streams and springs. This water network is largely tributary to the main river, the Dâmbovița. The Dâmbovița flows through the western part of the Dragoslavele commune, while both villages in the commune lie in its valley. Smaller waterways and springs therefore meet the larger river within the commune’s territory.

Several peaks lie in the immediate vicinity of Valea Hotarului: Algaiul, Runcu, Plăișoru and Priseaca. Each of these named peaks belongs to this nearby geographical area. Together with the Dâmbovița Valley and the network of streams and springs, they shape the landscape landmarks around the village. For a tour in mountainous surroundings, it is advisable to check the current conditions of the respective route before departure, as preparation may depend on the terrain and weather.

Village Church and Regional Culture

The Valea Hotarului Parish is located in the Dragoslavele commune, specifically in the village of Valea Hotarului. The Biserica din Valea Hotarului, the village church of Valea Hotarului, also stands there. It is regarded as a testament to the faith of the local community. The ecclesiastical institution and the place of worship thus form part of the village’s cultural identity. When visiting a church, current opening hours or event times can be checked in advance.

Trade, Customs and Border Guarding

The history of Dragoslavele is connected with trade relations, customs posts and border guarding. Trade relations with Brașov already existed in the Dragoslavele area on 20 January 1368; a customs post near Câmpulung formed part of this historical context. Another customs post on the Dâmbovița dates to 1413. In the 17th century, the inhabitants of Dragoslavele were entrusted with guarding the border. On 10 April 1647, the princely customs post of Rucăr and Dragoslavele was mentioned. The dates cited thus span the period from medieval trade to the duties of the inhabitants and the princely customs post in the 17th century.
