For outdoor activities, the Passadiço/Percurso do Gameiro offers a clearly defined route through various landscape features. The riverside zone is 2,930 metres long and includes 1,500 metres of wooden walkway and 1,430 metres of walking trail. It also includes a 2,570-metre-long Montado zone. Along the route, you can observe riverside pastures, poplars, amphibians, small fish and regional bird species; at an observation post, you can focus specifically on birds. The Mata Nacional de Cabeção also focuses attention on wildlife. The area belongs to the Natura 2000 network and covers more than 258 hectares. It provides habitats for herons, white and black storks, waterfowl, and diurnal and nocturnal birds of prey. Another landscape impression awaits you at the Miradouro de Mora, overlooking irrigated fields, streams and a diverse wild flora and fauna. The Azenhas da Seda combine historic watermills, rapids and waterfalls, complementing the natural attractions with a water-oriented cultural experience.

Megalithic Culture, Churches and Crafts

The Museu Interativo do Megalitismo de Mora presents early history with a 3D film and interactive tables. The focus is on life in a Neolithic village, archaeological objects and excavation methods. The museum is located in a complex incorporating the renovated former Mora railway station. Those interested in religious architecture and regional art will find a building dating from 1570 and a late-16th-century baptismal font at the Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Graça. The Igreja da Misericórdia de Mora preserves a mural of Nossa Senhora do Manto and a Renaissance marble washbasin. A prior appointment with the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Mora or the municipal tourist office is required for a visit.

In Pavia, the Anta-Capela de São Dinis is a particularly multifaceted monument. The megalithic chamber was built between the 4th and 3rd millennia BC, transformed into a Catholic temple in the Middle Ages and dedicated to São Dinis. It has been classified as a national monument since 1910. Here too, a prior appointment is required, either with the Junta de Freguesia de Pavia or Mora’s municipal tourist office. In Brotas, Olaria das Brotas continues a pottery tradition several centuries old. Visitors can make ceramics on the potter’s wheel, decorate clay objects and take part in guided tours.

Active Discoveries and Regional Traditions

For a creative experience, you can make an azulejo at Casa dos Mordomos D' Évora using 17th-century methods and then take it home with you. The Casa-Museu Manuel Ribeiro de Pavia displays paintings, original drawings, reproductions and illustrated books from the artist’s life and work. The listed opening hours for this museum are Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00–12:30 and 14:00–17:00.

Culinary and craft-related themes are also part of the local character. The Mostra Gastronómica da Caça takes place every year and is closely organised by the Câmara Municipal de Mora together with local restaurants. During the “Vista o Fato de Apicultor” experience, you visit an apiary and collect and bottle honey to take home. Visitor activities at Adega Encosta do Pinhal are available year-round.
