Pstrągowa stretches along the Pstrągówka valley, surrounded by hills. Small streams wind through the hills and flow into the Wisłok beyond the village. Landscape and a rest area nearby
Near Pstrągowa, close to the Wielki Las nature reserve, there is a tourist rest area in forest compartment 239b. Visitors can find shelter from the rain there or light a campfire. The area adds a specific place to stop to the landscape attractions.
Churches and historical traces
The first confirmed place of religious worship in Pstrągowa was a chapel dating from 1344. The village has been an independent parish since 1628. A wooden church was added to the former chapel in 1802. Another historical episode tells of residents who transported a wooden church from Góra Ropczycka to Pstrągowa by horse-drawn cart in a single day. The present-day brick Church of Saint Joseph the Worker was built between 1973 and 1975.
Beside the parish church, a late-Baroque stone statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from the 17th century stands in the square. The statue is one of the older visible details of the local architectural history, while the present-day church marks a much more recent building phase.
The Chapel of Brzezie
In the hamlet of Brzezie in Pstrągowa, the Chapel of Saint Bartholomew stands on the former road to Zawadka. Bartłomiej Fortuna, a farmer from Pstrągowa, had it built in 1878. Inside, murals decorate the chapel, including a depiction of a guardian angel. The Neo-Baroque altar has four columns and an image of Saint Bartholomew. The building thus connects its furnishings with its patron saint and the history of Brzezie.
Manor house and local memory
The former manor house of the Jarecki family was built in 1929 and is privately owned. Franciszek Jarecki, the landowner at the time, designed the entire building. He also designed Zakopane-style furniture, which carpenters from Czudec made. The manor house and the Chapel of Brzezie offer different insights into Pstrągowa’s architectural history: one is a 20th-century building, the other a 19th-century religious building.
The village’s history also includes a tragic event: in June 1943, German occupying forces carried out a pacification operation in Pstrągowa and murdered eleven people. A monument in the village centre, near the church and school, commemorates the victims.
Music and trip planning
