A deeply incised stream valley, varied slopes and different viewpoints define Brzeżanka. There are also cycling and hiking trails, as well as cultural traces such as roadside crosses and shrines. When planning your holiday, you can organise the local experiences around landscape, activity or culture. Brzeżanka is about 3 km from Strzyżów and lies away from the main transport routes.

Valleys and Ridges

The landscape is highly varied. The defining feature is the deeply incised valley of the Brzeżanka stream and its tributaries. Valleys and ridges lie side by side, rather than a single landscape form defining the area. If you are planning a stay around nature and landscape, you will find different perspectives and spatial contrasts here.

Views in Different Directions

From the hamlet of Podlas, the view stretches across the Strzyżów-Dynów Foothills: west to Góra Chełm (528 m), and east to Kopalina (464 m), also called Góra Niebylecka. The panorama also includes the Wisłok Valley between Cieszyna and Nowa Wieś. Another perspective is offered by viewpoints on the open border ridge at the boundary with Wysoka Strzyżowska, above the hamlet of Graniczna, overlooking the Kopytko Valley.

The view from the camping area's observation tower also reaches far: across the Stobnica Valley with the village of Godowa, and to Rzeszów, visible above the Góra Niebylecka massif. Taller trees affect the view. The camping area includes a small wooden structure and an information board about the flora and fauna of the local forests. The camping area is considered a tourist attraction in spring and autumn.

Cycling and Hiking Trails Compared

A circular cycling route passing through Brzeżanka is marked on the map: it runs from Strzyżów through Brzeżanka, Bonarówka, Żyznów and Godowa, returning to Strzyżów. The black hiking trail takes a different direction. It runs from Czudec via Babica, Połomia and Godowa to the Brzeżanka ridge, where it meets the green hiking trail.

A green-marked PTTK hiking trail runs from Strzyżów to Krosno and passes through Brzeżanka at one point. The routes described differ in the places they pass and in their form: a circular cycling route, an approach to the ridge via several villages, and a hiking connection between Strzyżów and Krosno. If you are planning time outdoors, these differences can help you decide what to focus on during your explorations.

Roadside Crosses and Local Tradition

Brzeżanka's cultural heritage includes roadside crosses and shrines. A local tradition also tells of volunteers who are said to have gathered in the forest beneath a beech tree to take part in national uprisings. The beech was therefore called “werbowanym.” As a local tradition, this story adds a local account to the visible cultural traces without presenting it as a documented historical event.

For several years, the developed viewpoint on Brzeżanka has been a popular spot for mushroom pickers. Together with the viewpoints, trails and cultural traces, it offers a range of interests around which you can plan your stay.

Brzeżanka as a Base for Your Stay

When looking for a holiday apartment, you can consider whether Brzeżanka's landscape and the trails described here provide the focus you want for your trip. Its approximate distance of 3 km from Strzyżów and its location away from the main transport routes offer a sense of its location without specifying a particular travel time.

The wider destination of Strzyżów also offers another connection with nature: the Czarnorzecko-Strzyżowski Landscape Park is a protected area with diverse flora and fauna. More than 900 species of vascular plants are reported in the area. This regional perspective complements the local impressions of the stream valley, ridges and viewpoints without attributing the landscape park's features to Brzeżanka.
