History
Wieluń was first mentioned in 1282 and received city rights in 1283. Its documented history also includes the fact that the city was heavily bombed by the Luftwaffe in September 1939; this bombing is described as the first bombing of the Second World War in Europe.
Wieluń also has a documented history as an important urban trading center of the Kingdom of Poland.
