Architecture and History in the City
Pałac Prymasowski, a former residence of the archbishops of Gniezno dating from the 18th century, stands in the city park. The neoclassical Church of Saint James the Apostle adds to the historic setting: Primate Antoni Ostrowski commissioned it in 1781, and it was designed by Efraim Schreger. In different ways, both buildings tell the story of Skierniewice.

The Church of Saint Stanislaus dates from 1720 and is the oldest place of worship in the city. Several matzevot and the ohel of the Tzaddik Szymon Kalisz have been preserved there. His grave is visited by Hasidic pilgrims, who traditionally leave notes with requests there. Muzeum Historyczne Skierniewic is dedicated to interpreting and protecting the cultural and historical heritage of the city and its surroundings.
From the City Park to Zalew Zadębie
Alongside its historic residence, the city park features a French-style garden. Sculptures and bridges connect its main avenues and make the park a distinctive part of the cityscape. The historic park gate once led to the residence of the archbishops of Gniezno; today, it provides access to the city park and houses the Museum of the Traditions of the 26th Infantry Division.
The recreational area at Zalew Zadębie offers a different kind of experience. The reservoir lies in the natural valley of the Łupia-Skierniewka River. The area includes a lifeguarded bathing area, a beach, watercraft rentals and a wakeboard lift. There is also a pump track and supervised walking trails. Alongside the city park, visitors can choose from water sports, time at the beach and activities on the trails.
